A Silent Tour of Rome (2015) (Sample)
Length: 27:51

A Silent Tour of Rome marks the first time Aleksandrow presents himself in front of the camera as the composer and breaker. 25 porcelain slip-casted forms were broken throughout the streets of Rome in the conclusion of his residency at c.r.e.t.a. Rome, 2015. This work is a reflection of the process Aleksandrow went through to produce the forms themselves. While waiting for them to dry in the molds, Aleksandrow would go out and explore Rome. The foreign landscape presented Aleksandrow with a challenge to procure silence within the Roman landscape. The ambient silence of each frame is even more dramatic than the break itself; the break becomes a constant throughout the work.
